this is not a new bill.

Does anyone remember like, a few years ago when everyone on deviantart freaked out about THE SAME THING?

And nothing happened.

Of course ridiculous bills like this get shot down all the time. But some sometimes they pass.

Remember DOMA?

Even if there’s no chance of PIPA or SOPA passing right now, there’s no harm in reminding the government of how unacceptable these ideas are. If somethingANYTHINGgoes up for consideration that the people don’t agree with, it’s their responsibility to tell their representatives.

How else are they supposed to represent us?

I never said signing petitions and reminding people this is a ridiculous bill is bad. I don’t agree with the thing, and it obviously doesn’t hurt to bring attention to it. I only said this has happened before, and it’s nothing to be panicing about because it very, very likely will not pass? It’s the sudden mass hysteria I was commenting on, very vaguely too, so assuming I was commenting on not believing our voices and opinions matter is sort of out of context!

I am commenting on the ridiculous of the very sudden mass hysteria. That’s all I was saying. I’m sorry if that came out unclear, it wasn’t intended to mean we shouldn’t stand up for our beliefs or anything like that at all.

Ah, sorry about the misunderstanding! I’ve seen quite a few comments here and there along the lines of “why bother,” and since your original post wasn’t very specific I made an assumption.
